A motorcyclist is being treated for a serious leg injury following a collision with a van on the A146.

The accident happened at Hellington Corner, near Bergh Apton, at about 5.30pm and led to a section of the main Norwich to Lowestoft road being closed for the rest of the evening.

The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital while the driver of a flat bed van was uninjured.

The van had been carrying sand, rubble and bricks, some of which scattered on to the carriageway and exacerbated the road closure.
