Two people have been taken to hospital this morning after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Catfield.

Emergency services were called at 6.20am, after the collision on the A149 between The Street and New Road junctions.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off of the car, a blue Honda Civic, to free the two people inside, who were then taken to James Paget Hospital.

Both people inside suffered serious injuries - the male driver to his back and the passenger to his legs.

The road was blocked in both directions between the junctions, with traffic being diverted through Catfield industrial estate.
