The A12 has reopened after a car crash forced police to shut seven miles of the road between Kessingland and Wangford in Suffolk today.

A green Nissan was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

The car ended up on its side and fuel leaked onto the carriageways.

The driver of the car and a passenger were removed from their vehicle and were described as 'walking wounded' by a police spokesman who added that their injuries were being life threatening or life changing.

Police officers arrived at noon and closed the road in both directions while the fuel leak was cleaned up.

Diversions were put in place while the crash site was dealt with and the road reopened at 1.30pm.

There was still a lot of traffic in the area at 2pm as a result of the earlier closure.
