A-level results 2017: Full list of results from Norfolk and Waveney

MORE: Click here for an interactive map of resultsToday marks A-levels results day, when students at sixth forms and colleges around the country will finally know more about what comes next. These results will be the first since A-level courses were reformed in 2015, with all assessments taken at the end of the two years of study.

We'll be updating this full list of results as they come in during the day. Latest results will appear alphabetically, and figures in brackets mark last year's result. Though it is difficult to compare the results like for like, it may give an indication of how the new system has affected results.

• Attleborough Academy Norfolk

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 54pc (52pc)

Neil McShane, principal, said: 'This year shows another increase for the academy in the percentage of students achieving the top grades and the A*-C measure. Congratulations to all our year 13 students for their hard work and commitment. Particular congratulations should go to Dan Smith-Hughes on his superb achievement of three A* grades, and three A grades. These results also reflect the dedication and professionalism of all our staff and the continuing support of our parents.'

• Bungay High School

Headteacher Angelo Goduti said: 'We are extremely proud of our students' achievements and these results reflect their hard work, commitment and determination.'

• City College Norwich

Corrienne Peasgood, principal, said: 'We are incredibly proud of all of our students whose hard work and determination, together with the support received from our staff, has seen 77pc of our individual course areas achieving 100pc pass rates. We are also exceptionally pleased to see a significant increase in the number of students achieving the higher level A* to C grades.

'I would like to congratulate all of our Sixth Form Centre students on their A-level achievements and wish them every success for the next step in their learning and careers, whether that is higher education, apprenticeships or employment.'

Jim Nixon, headteacher, said: ''We are pleased to have another excellent set of results that reflects the dedication and commitment of our students, and everyone at home and at CNS who have supported them. Overall we have seen an increase in our average points score across the year group and there are some stunning individual stories once again this year. We have 12 students who have achieved straight A and A* grades with 3 students achieving 3 or more A* grades. 5 of our students will leave us to go to either Oxbridge or to study medical and veterinary sciences.

Our vibrant, dynamic and large sixth form contributes greatly to school life, I will miss them all but am confident that they will do well in whatever path they choose. We are incredibly proud of them.'

• College of West Anglia

Principal David Pomfret said: 'I'm pleased that we had 100% pass rate in 11 subjects, with 47% of students achieving grades A* to C. I'd like to congratulate them on these results and thank our staff for supporting them throughout their studies.

'The majority of our students are now planning to go on to university and I wish them every success for the future.'

Dr Jan Hunt, headteacher, said: 'They are stunning results. We are very happy indeed. Despite the increased challenge in content of the reformed A-levels, students have worked hard and achieved to the best of their ability.

'It is important to note that these results cannot be compared to previous years because the assessment and challenge is different. We are a comprehensive school with a wide breadth of ability so we are particularly pleased.

'It has been a challenge for staff to prepare students thoroughly for more challenging A'levels and they have risen to the occasion very well. We are always delighted when we can get students into Oxford and Cambridge.'

• Downham Market Academy

Alison Hornby, director of sixth form, said: 'We are really pleased with the increase in results, especially under the new, tougher A-levels. It's a really good start for us.'

• East Norfolk Sixth Form College

Principal Dr Catherine Richards said: 'Well today has been an absolutely fantastic day, so many students are in College to celebrate their results. All of our results have gone up across the board which we're incredibly proud of. Particularly as our results are from more difficult A-levels, and there's been a lot of publicity.

'But at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, our students have done even better than they have done traditionally. We've got students off to Cambridge; we've got them going on to pharmacy, to medicine. We've got students getting into Oxford.

'Today has been a huge celebration of how well they've done and actually to see results get even better than before is fantastic, so we're having a real celebration.'

• Fakenham College

Matthew Parr-Burman, principal, said: 'A level results at Fakenham College have seen another improvement this year, with more passes overall, more A*-B grades and an increase in average result points. I am particularly pleased that so many young people have secured their future in a year when new subject specifications made things hard to predict. Congratulations to all those who have worked very hard and gained great results.

'For over a decade now students at Fakenham College have been going to Oxbridge Universities and this continued again this year. My thanks also to all the hard-working teachers who have supported young people here over the past couple of years.'

There have been some excellent individual results and the students I spoke to this morning have gained places at their first choice universities, which is fantastic news.

• Hethersett Old Hall School

Stephen Crump, headmaster, said: 'Once again we say goodbye to our hard-working year 13 girls. They are a multi-national year group and are off to universities in England and beyond – from Newcastle to Canada – with geographers, artists, paramedics, equine managers and potential businesswomen in our small cohort this year. I am delighted that all applicants have gained places on their chosen courses again this year, something in which the school takes great pride.'

• INTO UEA

Debbie Price, centre director of INTO UEA, which runs its Newton A-level Programme, said: 'We've had another incredible year of outstanding A-level results on our Newton programme here at INTO UEA.

'I'd like to congratulate all our Newton students on their results, and thank their teachers and the staff here on campus who have worked so closely with the students over the last two years enabling them to realise their full potential.'

• Jane Austen College

% of A-levels graded A* - C: 83pc (91pc)

Claire Heald, executive principal, said: 'We're thrilled that, yet again, our students have continued to achieve strong results. Our students have also made fantastic progress, achieving more highly, based on their GCSE results, than other students have nationally.

'On this measure in particular our results have improved on last year's. We're so very proud of all our students.'

• King Edward VII Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 60pc (70pc)

Lloyd Brown, head of school, said: 'We are very pleased. We have more rigorous courses here now but results are holding up well.'

• Langley School

% of A-levels graded A* to C – 80pc (79pc)

Dominic Findlay, headmaster, said: 'We are absolutely delighted with the A Level results gained this year which show a large increase in the percentage of grades in the A* to A category.

'A third of our pupils gained at least 2A*/A's alongside 100% of our Oxbridge candidates securing their places.

'These results are a true testament of the hard work and dedication of both the students and staff and we wish all our leaving students the very best of luck in the future.'

• Lowestoft Sixth Form College

Yolanda Botham, principal, said: 'I am very proud indeed of staff and students today who have worked incredibly hard together over the last two years to get ready for these new and very demanding A-level exams and have achieved these exceptional results. Teachers and mentors have inspired and motivated our students to excel. We truly believe in the potential of all our students and we are particularly thrilled with these results as Lowestoft Sixth Form College is an inclusive, non-selective local college.'

• Mildenhall Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 62pc (75pc)

Susan Byles, principal, said: 'I am exceptionally pleased with the results from our sixth form students. This year sees a further improvement on our overall pass rate, 99pc, which has risen successively over the past three years. The students who have taken Applied General courses have once again surpassed themselves and our A-level cohort has done extremely well especially as they are the first year group to sit the new reformed examinations.

'I would like to congratulate all of our students who are so deserving of this excellent set of results and I wish them the very best in the future.'

• Neale-Wade Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 45pc (64pc)

Aynsley Welling, head of school, said: 'It is clear that academy staff have given strong and effective guidance to post-16 students and this is reflected in the results. I am particularly pleased with the 75% of students who achieved Distinction* and Distinction that are equivalent to A* and A grades overall.'

• Nicholas Hamond Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 48pc (19pc)

Martin Booth, acting principal said: 'We are very proud of our awesome students' hard work and commitment to their studies. We are pleased to have been able to play our part in enabling them to confidently take their next steps towards further personal and professional success in the future. We wish them luck.'

• Notre Dame High School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 82pc (84pc)

Brian Conway, executive headteacher, said: 'We are all extremely pleased and proud of these superb A-level results achieved by our students. The whole school community has worked hard to gain these excellent results and we are particularly pleased that nearly 30% of grades are A* and A, which includes one of our students, Hero Bain, who has achieved 4 straight A*s. We are pleased to have four Oxbridge candidates and four medicine students who have been successful in securing places. We wish all our departing students the best for the future.'

• Norwich High School for Girls

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 90pc (89pc)

Kirsty von Malaisé, headmistress, joined the school as these girls started their A-levels. She said: 'I am very proud of all of the girls' strong individual performances and delighted that many now have the opportunity to succeed in the university courses of their choosing. I will miss them all very much and look forward to hearing about their ongoing successes in the near future.'

• Norwich School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 96pc (95pc)

Headmaster Steffan Griffiths said 'It is the 11th consecutive year that our pupils have produced A* to A and A* to B grades in excess of 60% and 85% respectively. At a time of national educational turbulence, the consistency of Norwich School's academic excellence is pleasing, particularly when set in the context of our ambitious co-curricular programme.

'The success of our pupils in obtaining top grades alongside sporting, artistic and philanthropic activities is testament to their determination and the rounded educational opportunities available at Norwich School.'

• Open Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 76pc (78pc)

Sarah Steele, director of sixth form, said: 'Congratulations to all of our sixth form students, parents and staff at Open Academy on another excellent year of results. 76pc of our students achieved top grades A*-C and 100pc D*-P Btec results.

'As director of sixth form I am extremely proud of the effort the students have put in to all their courses. This has gained them excellent university places in their chosen courses. Every student that applied to university has been offered a place. Well done Open Academy Students.'

• Ormiston Victory Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 75pc (81pc)

Principal Naomi Palmer said: 'We are excited to celebrate fantastic results with our students today – I am so proud of what they have achieved. We are thrilled for our hard-working and talented young people, who have been so well supported by their families and their teachers.

The Victory class of 2017 also has the highest ever number of students applying to continue their studies at university. We wish them all well on the next stage of their journeys, whatever they might be.'

• Paston Sixth Form College

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 80pc (78pc)

Kevin Grieve, principal, said: 'I am extremely proud of our wonderful students who achieved the challenge we set them to improve on last year's results. Our 2017 results are outstanding and I am very proud of all the students and staff at the college.'

• Reepham College

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 89pc (87pc)

Mark Farrar, headteacher, said: 'We're absolutely delighted by the results that have been achieved at Reepham High School and College. Every year since we've been open we've had extremely good results but this year they have been better than ever. Over one in nine of our students got at least two A stars and an A grade at A-level.'

• Saint Felix School

% of A-levels graded A* to C – 77pc (80pc)

James Harrison, headteacher, said: 'This is another excellent set of results for my pupils. It's pleasing to see success from boys and girls, local and international pupils across the subjects. The vast majority obtained places at Russell Group Universities and Cambridge University. Saint Felix pupils are a unique breed and these universities will be lucky to have them.'

• Sheringham High School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 70pc (82pc)

Andrew Richardson, headteacher, said: 'In a climate of exam volatility and change, we are immensely proud of the sustained high achievements of our students this year. With 100% pass-rate, seven Norfolk Scholars and over a third of results at grade B or better, we are very pleased that, in our 21st year as a sixth form, our excellent track record of results has been maintained.

'Congratulations to our year 13 students for their hard work and commitment. The results also reflect the dedicated professionalism of our staff and the continued support of our parents. Particular congratulations should go to Meghan Jarvis and Ally Smith who both achieved a superb A* and two A grades.'

• Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form

% of A-levels graded A* to C: 78pc - (80pc)

Chris Jennings, principal, said: 'These are our third set of results from our biggest ever group of students, and they include some fantastic grades - particularly in the facilitating subjects that are prized by universities. Over half of the grades are B or better and demonstrate the hard work put in by our students and staff.'

• Sir John Leman High School

Michael Taylor, headteacher, said: 'We want to congratulate our sixth form students for their great success this year. We are very proud of their achievements; our 58% A* to B (82% A* to C) is not only a great headline for the school, smashing our challenging internal target, but more importantly, behind that, are some brilliant individual performances, some outstanding sets of grades and much evidence of personal bests.'

• Springwood High School

Headteacher Andy Johnson said: 'It's been an absolutely fantastic year. It's mainly terminal exams now, so they've really risen to the challenge. We've had fantastic teaching, lots of top universities, people off to do medicine. It's been a great year for the school and a great year for the youngsters.'

• Sprowston High School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 66pc (67pc)

Andrew John, headteacher, said: 'I am highly delighted for all our Year 13 students. They have worked very hard to achieve excellent results and as a consequence are able to move forward with all their plans for their futures. Congratulations to each and every one of them.

'We've had some excellent individual results too, for example Jack Davies and Rebecca Hume both with 3 A* and 1 A each. Approximately half the grades achieved are A*-B.

'My thanks to their families, to their class teachers, form tutors and support staff for their unfailing support and contribution to their successes. In particular, thanks to Rebecca Dawbarn and Alice Brindley, our excellent Head and Assistant Head of Sixth Form.

• Taverham High School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 65pc (71pc)

Headteacher Carol Dallas said: 'We would like to congratulate our students who have maintained high standards whilst tackling the challenges of the new A-level specifications. We are delighted that 31% of the cohort have achieved an A or A* in at least one subject, and 20% achieved at least two As or A*s which is up by 9% on last year.

'We are very pleased that all students regardless of their target grades have worked hard and we are proud of them all and wish them well in their new education courses or career pathways. Thanks must go to the staff and parents who supported them in their preparations and we hope they have enjoyed the rich experience offered at Taverham Sixth Form.'

• The Hewett Academy

Rebecca Handley Kirk, principal, said: 'Our students, supported by our staff, have worked very hard to achieve some great results. The first students receiving results for our BTEC Sport and Exercise Science course have done particularly well, with a 100pc pass rate and an average merit grade.'

• Thetford Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 59pc (71pc)

Kevin Blakey, principal, said: 'This was a particularly big year group, twice the size of last year, and they have done very well across the curriculum with 100pc A* to C pass rates in subjects as varied as performing arts, information technology, and health and social care.

'A third of our students achieved three or more strong passes, and the number of A grades has topped last year's national average. Two thirds of students will be going on to their top university choice. These are great achievements by our talented students and dedicated staff.'

• Thetford Grammar School

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 76pc (81pc)

Mark Bedford, headmaster, said: 'On behalf of Thetford Grammar School, I am very pleased for our departing students and, of course, their families. This is a testament to our young people's determination and hard work, and the dedication and commitment of all our staff.

• Thomas Clarkson Academy

Principal Anne Hill said: 'We are absolutely delighted as, for the first time in the school's history 20pc of our student cohort have secured places in prestigious Russell Group universities. The results have improved on last year, the average grade has gone up.'

• Thorpe St Andrew High School and Sixth Form

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 78pc (83pc)

Ian Clayton, headteacher, said: 'The large student numbers in our year 13 have fully embraced the opportunities of the wide and varied curriculum open to them, including academic courses, those with a strong vocational element or a combination of the two.

This approach has supported them in achieving one of the highest university acceptance rates or successful applications for employment and further training. Today, we celebrate the achievements that our students have gained through their study and hard work, as well as the delivery by their subject teachers and our sixth form team.'

• University Technical College Norfolk

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 62pc (52pc) (including A-level equivalents)

Alex Hayes, principal, said: 'We are delighted with our second set of results! Last year's engineering outcomes have got even better - we now have 78% of UTC Norfolk students achieving a distinction grade for their BTEC Engineering Diploma (62% last year).

'A-level results are up significantly, too. These results have enabled our students to take up a wide range of exciting apprenticeship and university places and we, once again, anticipate a 100% progression rate for our leavers.

'Our mission is to develop tomorrow's engineering and technology specialists and that is exactly what we are doing. Congratulations go to our students, staff and parents for all their hard work.'

• Wisbech Grammar School

% of A-levels granted A* to C - 76pc (75pc)

Chris Staley, headmaster, said: 'Once again I am really pleased with the A-level results this year. With so much change in the education and examination system, the pupils have managed this very well, and their results reflect their resilience, hard work and the dedication of the teaching staff, plus the unerring support of parents alike. With a pass rate in excess of 97%, and more than 51% achieving the top grades and (more than) 76% of the year group receiving A*-C's, this year's results have provided the boys and girls of WGS with the springboard to go on to university with more than 60% of pupils achieving their first choice university.'

• Wymondham College

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 85pc (81pc)

Jonathan Taylor, executive principal, said: 'Congratulations to a record breaking year 13. We are delighted that the hard work of students and staff has been rewarded with an outstanding set of results. Nearly 40% of all grades were A*\A and our overall average grade was a B.

'I can confirm eight Oxbridge places and a further five medical school places have been accepted by our students. The overwhelming majority of students have secured their first choice university or apprenticeship destination

'We are thrilled with this set of results.'

• Wymondham High Academy

% of A-levels graded A* to C - 83pc (80pc)

Principal Jonathan Rockey said: 'Once again our students have achieved outstanding results.

'The students at have shown determination in attaining results that will allow them to move on to the next phase of their lives with confidence. With 83pc of entries reaching a Grade C or above, the young people have a huge amount to be proud of.

'Acknowledging the enormous achievements of the most able is very important, but what also gives me gives great pleasure is the consistent progress that our students make irrespective of their ability or starting point. We are delighted with the achievement the individual students who have overcome personal difficulties with the help of pastoral and support staff to reach their potential.'
