A major brand is opening a new store this week that will trial a new sustainability scheme.
The new Co-op shop in Attleborough is due to open this Friday (September 18).
The store in London Road, which will open daily from 7am to 10pm, will offer a range of fresh, chilled, and Fairtrade products, as well as hot food, baked goods and Co-op’s new Indian-inspired 'Served' ready meal range.
It has created 10 local jobs and will act as a "test, learn and adopt" site for trialling new green technologies and practices.
As part of the brands commitment to sustainability, the store features motion-activated fridge lighting, water-saving fittings and recycling points for soft plastics and coffee pods.
Alex Ball, area manager for Co-op, said: "We are delighted to invest in Attleborough and proud to launch Co-op’s newest store and latest sustainability showcase location.
"We’re proud to serve Attleborough and look forward to welcoming the community as they pop into their new Co-op."
Thirty-three people wrote to Breckland District Council to object to plans for the store last year, with concerns the nearby Dodds Road Stores would suffer a loss in trade.
