As the bustle of summer fades, the Broads transform into a peaceful retreat, with fewer boats on the water and without queues at popular moorings, making for a more relaxing escape.
While summer often gets the headlines, those in the know will tell you that September is when the Norfolk Broads are at their very best.

The waterways still sparkle in the sunshine, while cooler mornings and evenings can make walking and cycling far more comfortable.
Nature enthusiasts have even more reason to visit during this time of year.
Migratory birds arrive, reeds turn golden and the landscape gradually shifts into autumn, with misty mornings adding to the enchantment.
September is also an excellent time to explore the area's famous waterside villages.

Visitors can also explore quieter waterside villages such as Wroxham, Horning and Potter Heigham, where cafés, pubs and independent shops are far less crowded.
Photographers are drawn to the Broads in September for its soft light, vivid sunsets and the chance to capture early morning mist.
With fewer crowds, pleasant weather, stunning wildlife and a sense of calm that can be hard to find in high summer, September might just be the Broads' best-kept secret.
