A private indoor swimming pool in a town is set to accommodate a swim school after plans were approved.

Steve Gray put forward an application for the facility at Wisteria Court on Greenfields Road in Dereham.

The pool will be used for residential purposes and operation by Karly’s Swim Stars Ltd, a swim school based across Norfolk.

Lessons will be from 3.45pm to 6.45pm, with extra sessions from 9am where demand requires.

The school will teach approximately 120 children over the course of a week and provide water fitness classes for up to 14 adults per session.

No internal alterations are planned to the pool building, with the residential use of the main property and the separate single-storey outbuilding to be preserved.

A design and access statement said the proposal would create an "accessible community resource" by providing professionally accredited swimming instruction for children and adults.

The statement added it would make "efficient and beneficial use" of an existing purpose-built pool.
