A Norfolk hotel has been named among the best places to stay in the UK for a Christmas getaway.

The Maltings, a 28-room hotel in a cluster of former flint barns, was featured in The Times list of top Christmas stays in the UK.

Located along the north Norfolk coast near Weybourne, it was praised for "offering a wonderfully peaceful escape far from all the festive madness, and the Maltings makes a cosy base".

The two-night Christmas package includes bed and breakfast, Christmas lunch in the Grain Store restaurant, as well as fizz and canapés.

Guests are free to spend the rest of their stay as they wish.

The Times said: "Apart from that, you can enjoy your own Christmas in your own style: long walks on windswept beaches, birdspotting on the Broads, picnics on the dunes or just chilling with a book."

The Times described the hotel as "a stylish and contemporary 28-room hotel".

It added: "September is a brilliant time to book, as it leaves ample time to make the arrangements, and you might even bag a deal."
