An escaped prisoner who prompted a nationwide manhunt has been accused of stealing a car in Norwich while on the run.
Kieron Moss absconded in the early hours of March 14 from HMP Sudbury open prison in Derbyshire where he was serving a three-and-a-half year sentence for robbery.
The 39-year-old was on the run for nine days before being arrested on March 23 at Clifton in Nottinghamshire.
During his period at large he is said to have visited Norwich and is accused of stealing a Ford Focus car in the city on March 19.
He did not appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court to face an allegation of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and his case was adjourned.
Moss, who is now back behind bars at HMP Ranby in Nottinghamshire, has subsequently been convicted of escaping lawful custody in separate court proceedings.
It is not the first time he has escaped from prison.
In 2019 he absconded after climbing over the fence while serving 10 years for his part in the armed robbery of a Franky & Benny’s restaurant.
