An application for a Certificate of Lawful Use has been lodged seeking confirmation that the house on Calton Road in Lowestoft can be used as an Ofsted-regulated shared supported home for up to three looked-after children or care leavers aged 16 to 17.
Planning documents from Matthew Sotayo of Antonia Homes Limited state the young people would occupy the property as their main home, with each teen having a private bedroom while sharing the kitchen, bathroom, and living areas as one household.
The application to East Suffolk Council says staff would attend on a shift basis to help with developing independent living skills, including cooking, budgeting, cleaning, education, attending appointments, and participating in the community.
Staff would not live at the property as their main residence.
It adds that personal care would not be the primary service provided, although it could be offered where identified through an individual assessment and agreed care plan, but the "property will not operate as a residential care home".
No building works, extensions, conversions or external alterations are proposed as part of the scheme.
