A hit kiosk in a city park will mark its first anniversary with burgers, beer and a DJ.

Nothing Fancy in Chapelfield Gardens underwent a major overhaul last year after Rhys Hartle took over the site from his mother, who had run it for 20 years.

One year on, plenty of plans are afoot to celebrate the birthday on April 18.

From 12pm until late, Nothing Fancy will serve up all its fan favourites, including toasties, matcha and ice cream.

BunX will be on site selling its award-winning burgers to hungry partygoers and JUBEL lagers will be available from a specially-made stand.

DJ Josh Tibbs is booked to provide the soundtrack for the day's celebrations.

"It has been an amazing first year," Mr Hartle reflected. "We are about to launch on Deliveroo and plans are under way to launch merchandise soon.

"The run club takes place every weekend and watching it grow has been great.

"I'm eyeing up another venue too as we look to expand the business."

Mr Hartle explained that his mum has been following the business over the last year and has been very supportive as he takes it into a new era.

The site has recently refined its offering, focusing on toasties, artisan drinks and soft serve ice cream.

"Matcha is really popular for us, it has really gone crazy," Hunter Stout, barista, added.

"People have been loving our spring specials. We launched them for fun, but the cherry blossom special has been our most popular drink over the last few weeks.

"It is really important to us to be super efficient and we've made changes to ensure that we are.

"It does get busy - last Saturday the sun came out and we had a solid queue for eight hours - and we were able to serve everyone quickly, which was great."
