A 17-year-old lioness described as a "true favourite" has died at a zoo.
Kaya - who was living at Africa Alive in Kessingland, near Lowestoft - was put to sleep.
The news was announced by a spokeswoman who said: "It’s with deep sadness that we share the end of an era at Africa Alive, with the passing of our beloved lioness Kaya.
"At 17 years old, Kaya was being monitored closely by her dedicated keepers alongside the veterinary care team.
"Sadly, over recent weeks, it had become evident that she was struggling, with regular welfare assessments showing a reduction in her mobility, alongside changes to her behaviour."
Kaya had been at Africa Alive for many years and was a favourite with keepers at the facility.
"Our pride of beautiful lions began in 2005 with Mo and Zero, growing into a much-loved family with the births of Sarabi, Tor, Makimba in 2006, followed by Kaya, and Jabu in 2009," the spokeswoman explained.
"Kaya was a true favourite amongst her keepers, known for her independent spirit and the special bond she shared with her brother.
"She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
"We’re incredibly grateful for everyone’s support during this difficult time."
She added this is "not the end" of Africa Alive's lions, and the zoo will be working closely with the EEP breeding programme on future plans.
Earlier this month, Africa Alive welcomed the arrival of two new cheetahs.
Mo and Bolt joined Duma as part of another big cat breeding programme.
