The café offers breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, including a full-English breakfast, jacket potatoes, wraps and various ‘signature specials’, which are all freshly prepared in the kitchen using local ingredients. Four-legged visitors are guaranteed a warm welcome at The Chequers, where pub dog Rudy loves making new friends. There are plenty of places for dogs to explore around the area, including the beach at Old Hunstanton, which is known as one of the best dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk. Your best friend can be sure of a warm welcome at this elegant Georgian manor luxury hotel, which has 11 dog-friendly garden rooms located around the spa garden. Each room has a patio with terrace furniture, and a bowl, treat and blanket will be provided for your pooch. The hotel staff can recommend dog-friendly walks in the countryside and on local beaches, as well as places for running off the lead. The hotel has some maps of walks for you to pick up and peruse, and there’s even a hosepipe beside the steps at the front in case you need to wash your dog down after a muddy ramble.

Nearby Wells Beach is dog-friendly, except for a restricted area – the Pinewoods entrances are great for walks. The Globe overlooks a leafy Georgian square, and has been newly refurbished, inspired by the town’s maritime heritage. It has 19 bedrooms, with 10 spacious off-site rooms and a self-contained cottage. All its bedrooms have been designed to be pooch-perfect, with a dog bed, towel and water bowl for a comfortable stay.

This dog-friendly lounge within the Prom Hotel offers a special doggy menu featuring a variety of healthy and grain-free meals and snacks, alongside menus for human customers. Unusual items on the dog menu include ‘paw scratchies’ and ‘bark burgers’, with other goodies such as dog-friendly adaptations of fish and chips or a roast dinner.
Dogs can also wash it all down with chicken-flavoured ‘beer’ and chicken and passion fruit ‘paw star martinis’. The hotel opened the special dining room in 2024 because it had so many requests from customers wanting to dine with their dogs.

Blickling Estate, Aylsham
Blickling has received the National Trust’s highest three pawprint rating, which means dogs can go in most places, including parkland, woodland and on rights of way across the wider estate, being kept under close control at all times. Dogs on short leads are welcome in places including the farmyard and estate barn. After a walk around Blickling, head for the Muddy Boots café, where you can buy hot and cold drinks as well as light snacks.
