A north Norfolk beach trail has been named among the best walks in the UK for 2026 in a national survey.

Consumer group Which? asked members to rate walks according to difficulty, distance, scenery, places of interest, signage, wildlife, peace and quiet, visitor facilities, accessibility, parking and food and drink.

A seven-and-a-half trek at Wells Beach and Pinewoods Walk made it on to the final rankings, with an overall score of 81pc, which is the highest for the East of England.

The walk, which takes between two and three hours and starts at Wells-Next-the-Sea, was ranked two out of five for difficulty.

Starting in Wells, this fairly flat route takes people past sand dunes, the busy harbour and through a woodland of tall pine trees.

It scored four stars for both its scenery and wildlife and its parking facilities.

Which? recommended that tired walkers stop for a drink and a bite to eat at Wells Beach Cafe at the end of their wander.
