Former military homes which have stood empty for years could be brought back into use to provide housing for Norfolk families.
South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy is campaigning to bring 15 homes at RAF Feltwell, 10 miles west of Thetford, back into use.
The Labour MP has been working with the Ministry of Defence to highlight concerns from people that homes on the edge of the military base are standing empty when housing is short.
The homes at Trenchard Square are part of the Feltwell military base which was built in the 1930s and served as a Second World War bomber station.
It is believed the homes at Trenchard Square - named after British military officer Hugh Montague Trenchard, dubbed the 'father of the Royal Air Force' for his role in establishing the organisation, have been empty for more than a decade.
Mr Jermy said: "This is a matter that residents of Feltwell have raised with me on a number of occasions.
"There are concerns about the deterioration of the properties and the waste of what could be useable family homes.
"I am committed to ensuring that no military housing sits empty, particularly when we have such clear housing needs locally.
"I am pleased to highlight these concerns in an attempt to bring these empty homes back into use to provide housing for local families."
Mr Jermy MP raised the issue of the empty homes at RAF Feltwell during a recent Westminster meeting with veterans minister, Al Carns MP.
RAF Feltwell currently serves as a housing estate for United States Air Force personnel based at nearby RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.
The base made headlines in November last year, when a criminal investigation was launched into the flying of the unmanned aerial vehicles over Feltwell, Lakenheath and Mildenhall.
