Caravan dumped in the car park at Heacham South Beach

The static vehicle on a ramshackle trailer appeared in the car park at Heacham South Beach around a month ago.

West Norfolk Council, which owns the car park, said investigations were under way to trace its owner.

It has been left near to signs warning of no overnight camping, but does not appear to be inhabited.

Despite taking up around half a dozen parking spaces, the vehicle also does not seem to be displaying a parking ticket.

"We are aware of its presence and will be using other powers to expedite its removal as soon as we can.”

He added he did not know when that might happen, as a large vehicle would be needed to remove it.

One of the caravan's wheels has seen better days (Image: Chris Bishop) The caravan, resting on baulks of timber, does not look capable of being towed away, as one of its wheels appears to have given up the ghost - with its tyre over the rim. 

Several dents adorn its grimy bodywork, which has clearly seen better days.

It comes days after a static caravan was dumped at Leverington, near Wisbech, blocking a road. 

Those dumping caravans can be prosecuted for fly-tipping. In 2022, a man from Wymondham was fined £500 and ordered to pay costs of £1,500 and a £50 victim surcharge for dumping a caravan at nearby Spooner Row.

The eyesore stands near the entrance to the beach, which has been at the centre of concerns over poor water quality in recent years, with visitors warned not to bathe.
