A hospice charity celebrated cherished memories with its successful inaugural walk.
Nearly 100 people embarked on the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity Memorial Walk on June 23, drawn together by a shared sense of loss and love, raising £8,300.
Friends and family members took part in the event, setting off on a 5K or 10K walk around the UEA lake and Cringleford Wood.
Participants carried pink card hearts with personal memories written on them in remembrance of their loved ones who had received end-of-life care at the Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Participants enjoyed a barbecue and shared experiences back at the Lodge after the walk.
Margaret Seely, who lost her husband in 2018, said: “It made a huge impact on my granddaughters to see so many others who had also experienced loss, but were walking to celebrate life.
"I was so pleased to play a small part in this wonderful event, and I will continue to do all I can for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity for the support which was given to Graham."
As participants arrived back to Priscilla Bacon Lodge, the pink hearts bearing messages of love and support were hung in the garden.
The Revd Canon Nick Garrard led a short commemoration ceremony, ending a poignant day of celebration and reflection.
Hugo Stevenson, head of fundraising and communications, said: "We are deeply moved by the tremendous support and participation in our inaugural Memorial Walk.
"Every step taken helps ensure that we can continue to enhance care for patients and their loved ones at Priscilla Bacon Lodge."
The charity has started planning for next year's Memorial Walk on June 22, 2025.
