Work has begun on a new £7 million storage facility at a Norfolk port.

Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading port operator, has broken ground on a new bulk store at King’s Lynn port, which will be used to store products for a chemical and food ingredient supplier.

Once complete, the storage facility will be 106m long, 44m wide and 10m high, located at the Edward Benefer Way and Estuary Road junction.

It is being built for Azelis – a leading innovation service provider that supplies speciality chemicals and food ingredients to more than 2,000 customers in the UK.

The £7m project marks ABP’s largest investment in King’s Lynn to date.

The Port of Kings Lynn handles around 400,000 tonnes of cargo each year.

Together with ABP’s other two ports in East Anglia, Lowestoft and Ipswich, it contributes £360m to the UK economy annually and supports 5,300 jobs.

The storage facility is set to be complete in May 2025.

Azelis will install a cutting-edge bagging plant and relocate to the site, which it will lease.
