The Norfolk Lord’s Taverners has a new batsman at the crease after Jonathan Hook took over from retiring chairman Gary Towers, who set up the regional branch 12 years ago.
Mr Hook, CEO and founder of Norwich Accountancy and MacInnes Whisky, replaced Mr Towers at the head of the cricketing charity earlier this month.
The Lord’s Taverners, which was set up in 1950 by cricket-loving actors, helps support young people through various fundraising activities and schemes.
Mr Towers and fellow sports enthusiast Gordon Smart joined the organisation following a presentation by cricketer Matthew Fleming at the Strangers Club in Norwich several years ago.
Since then, the pair have helped establish the charity's Norfolk branch and were asked to chair it in 2012.
During Mr Towers' time as chairman, the Norfolk region raised more than £300,000, contributing to facilities and resources such as specially adapted minibuses for special needs schools, sensory centres, and sports wheelchairs.
