A 10-year-old boy endured years of bullying after setting his heart on a "selfless" act of kindness.

Logan Willimott, from Rackheath, was just six years old when he decided to grow his hair long enough to cut it off and donate it to a charity.

"He was complaining about his hair while I was helping him to wash it," said Ruth Willimott, Logan's mum.

"I just said that he should be thankful to have such beautiful blonde locks, as some kids become unwell and lose all their hair.

"He decided, then and there, that he would grow his hair out until he was 10 and then donate it to charity.

"It was a selfless act of kindness."

Despite Logan experiencing some name-calling and bullying because of his long hair, he never once wanted to give up and get it cut.

"He went through some hard times but really stuck by his decision," said Ruth.

"It was really courageous of him."

On Tuesday, one week after Logan's 10th birthday, mobile hairdresser Nathan Rose cut 15 inches of Logan's locks.

"He cried the whole time," said Ruth.

Logan added: "I felt really emotional - both happy and upset at the same time.

"It feels a bit weird not having my long hair anymore, but there are loads of other people that need more hair than I do, and that's why I grew it out for so long."

The lengths have been sent to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children without any hair, along with the £1,000 that Logan raised.

Despite it taking time for him to get used to it, Logan has no more plans to grow his hair long again.

"I think I'll keep my hair short for now," he said with a chuckle.
