Former prime minister Liz Truss has postponed two signings to promote her book because of the election announcement.

The South West Norfolk MP, who returned to the back benches after a 49-day spell as PM, was due to sign copies of Ten Years to Save The West at Waterstones, in King's Lynn on Tuesday, May 28.

The following evening, she was set to appear at the Beccles Public Hall, in Suffolk.

But both venues say the event has now been postponed after the announcement that a general election will be held on July 4.

A poster at Waterstones, on Lynn's Norfolk Street, says the event has been postponed after the general election announcement. It adds: "Further details to come."

A box office worker at Beccles Public Hall said the event would now be going ahead on Tuesday, August 13, at 7.30pm.

Before the postponement, Ms Truss said she was delighted by the response to the book - despite a panning from political pundits.

She added: "The interest it has generated in how government works - or not as the case may be - has been significant and I'm looking forward to the events in King's Lynn and Beccles."
