A man has appeared in court charged over the stabbing of a man at a property on a residential street on the outskirts of Norwich.

Police were called to Theobald Road in the Old Lakenham area on May 18 after a man was found with stab wounds.

Stuart Brittain, 35, appeared in custody at Norwich Magistrates’ Court charged with grievous bodily harm.

Magistrates committed him to appear at Norwich Crown Court on June 18 after being told the charges were too serious to be heard by the lower court.

Brittain, of Bowman Road, Norwich, did not enter a plea and was remanded to remain in prison until the hearing.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries - where he is in a stable condition.

A woman in her 40s also arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH remains on bail.

Neighbours in the quiet street expressed their shock over the incident with one describing the aftermath, including armed police swooping on the property, as “absolutely manic”.
