A village patisserie is launching a new mystery menu event where guests will be on a blind date - with their food.

Teles Patisserie is an independent business run by Ana and Joaquim Teles, nestled in the Norfolk countryside in Surlingham.

Guests will receive nibbles upon arrival, followed by five starters, two mains, a bottle of sangria, coffee and two desserts throughout the evening.

The couple moved to Norfolk from Portugal in 2015, bringing their authentic dishes and knowledge with them to local markets and food festivals before opening the patisserie in 2018.

Joaquim is the head chef and will be deciding what the theme of each mystery menu evening is.

Guests will be given one word to describe the theme of the evening while they wait for their mystery meals to arrive.

Mrs Teles said: "We are really looking forward to it – everybody thinks the idea is great as there is nothing like this, at least on this side of the world.

"But this is an idea that's very popular in Spain, Italy and Portugal.

"The first week's theme will be fish - Joaquim is very excited to cook all his favourite fish dishes."

The first event will be on June 8.
