Broads Authority auction offering boats for £50 starting bid

The organisation is holding a sealed-bid auction offering a number of items for sale to the highest bidder.

A JCB tractor and excavator, a large trailer and two boats in need of a bit of TLC are all up for grabs.

But the BA warns the items are "sold as seen" and some will need substantial work to make them ship shape. 

One of the lots is a 12ft sailing dinghy, which has a reserve of £50 placed on it. A set of sails is included. However, it is not known if the sails and rigging are complete.

The BA says it is "an ideal enthusiast project) but work is needed on the hull.

Another vessel, a small Shetland 535 motorboat, also has a £50 reserve placed on it.

It could be a great opportunity for a boat enthusiast to restore, the BA says, although it adds it is sold as seen and it is not known if the engine works.

Those looking for a new toy and with a bit more cash to splash could make a bid for a JCB Tracked Excavator, which is in "good condition and everything works as it should".

The reserve price is £16,000.

A JCB tractor is also in the auction, starting at £5,000. It has recently had a "thorough examination" and is in "good condition for its age".

The auction is being held as a sealed-bid event and those wishing to try their luck have until 12pm on May 31 to place their bids.
