A Leeds United player's 4x4 has crashed into a police car outside the Yorkshire club's stadium ahead of tonight's play-off clash with Norwich City.

The crash happened near the West Stand entry gate just after 10am as players arrived at Elland Road ahead of the 8pm kick-off.

Photographs show a Land Rover Defender, belonging to 21-year-old defender Charlie Cresswell, and a badly damaged West Yorkshire Police patrol car.

A police officer who suffered minor injuries received medical treatment but no other injuries were reported and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

It has not been confirmed whether Cresswell was driving the Land Rover or how the crash happened but social media images show the crash aftermath, with debris scattered across the road.

Preston-born Cresswell is reportedly still available for selection despite the collision.

He was an unused substitute in Sunday's 0-0 first-leg draw at Carrow Road and was part of the England under-21 squad that won the European Under-21 Championship in 2023.

The winner of tonight's clash will face either Southampton or West Bromwich Albion at Wembley where they will battle for a spot in next season's Premier League.
