A landmark hotel has revealed plans for 12 new rooms in an extension to help cope with demand.

Knights Hill Hotel, on the outskirts of King's Lynn, has applied for planning permission to extend its Garden Apartments building.

In a planning statement, the 79-bed hotel's agent says: "Due to high occupancy levels, there is a need for more guest rooms. The development proposal consists of providing a further 12 rooms spread over two storeys.

"Not only will this encourage visitors to the area but also provide local employment."

Six jobs will be created, in addition to the 55 full-time and 49 part-time staff at Knights Hill.

Listed parts of the complex, housed in a former farmhouse and barns, will not be affected.

The planning statement adds that the extension will be built on a "rarely" used tennis court.
