Family of Norwich man Tyrone Ward vow to preserve his legacy

Tyrone Ward died at Mousehold Heath on April 27 last year following a heartbreaking mental health struggle.

The talented musician studied at Access to Music and three of his own compositions were played at his funeral.

Now, a year on from his death, his mother Maria Ward and siblings Chelsea, 27 and Mackenzie, 19, have vowed to make sure his memory lives on.

On the anniversary of his death, the family held a special balloon release to commemorate him and are preparing to run a half marathon together in his memory.

The trio are raising funds for the mental health charity Norfolk and Waveney Mind, which has provided bereavement support for them since Mr Ward's death.

Mrs Ward said: "Tyrone would have been very proud of what we are all doing. It was my daughter Chelsea's idea - we feel it is the right thing to do to keep his memory alive.

"We have all struggled mentally, physically and emotionally, and this will test all of our strength and abilities, but doing this beside each other will show what kind of loving family we are."

The family are taking part in the Blicking half marathon in October and have raised more than £200 already.

Mrs Ward added: "It still feels like yesterday that Tyrone died - time has moved on but you are never able to.

"Tyrone was the life and soul of every event and I know he would have been there cheering us all on if he was still with us."

An inquest into Mr Ward's death is scheduled to be held later this year.
