Police have released CCTV footage showing a man fleeing the scene after stabbing another man to death in a row over drugs.

Theodore Lynch, 41, was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday after a jury found him guilty of the murder of 63-year-old Leslie Smith.

During the trial - which lasted just over two weeks - Norwich Crown Court heard Lynch murdered Mr Smith at his flat in Suffolk Square after a violent row about a drug debt.

Lynch stabbed him in the neck with a knife before running away and leaving him on his sofa to die.

Mr Smith's partially decomposed body was discovered 12 days later on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Police linked Lynch to the death through CCTV footage which showed him hurrying away from Mr Smith's flat on the evening of October 5.

The court heard how after fleeing the block of flats, Lynch ran to an ex-partner’s house covered in blood and told her he had "pushed something into someone’s neck".

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess said: “Lynch murdered Mr Smith for a drug debt and has shown no remorse since.

"He is a very dangerous man and the jury’s decision to convict him of murder will ensure he is kept behind bars for a considerable amount of time, making the streets of Norwich a safer place."
