A new corner shop has opened in a Norfolk village allowing people living in the area a convenient alternative to buying their bits and bobs.

The new Premier store on St Nicholas Drive, Caister, opened today (April 25).

Owner Dave Vallipuram - who has also owned the Premier Post Office on Winifred Way for the past 12 years - said the new shop has already seen a good response.

"It's been a long time since the last newsagents closed. And people have had to use their cars or take the bus just to get a pint of milk or a newspaper."

The shop is fully stocked, but it will be a few weeks before the store's new permanent signage is added to the front.

In 2010, the unit and its neighbouring store had been transformed into a busy hub for hairdressing, beauty, fashion, educational classes and courses.

The St Nicholas Drive Premier is open seven days a week, from 7am until 9pm.
