The people of Cromer will come together to celebrate their town's seafaring heritage next month during the famous Crab and Lobster Festival.

The annual festival will run from Friday, May 17, until Sunday, May 19, and the line-up of events has already been revealed.

The party will begin at the pier's Pavillion Theatre when Olly Day hosts the first Grand Opening Concert in five years alongside special guests including Nigel ‘boy’ Syer and the Sheringham Shantymen.

Over Saturday and Sunday, visitors can expect to find food, drink, craft stalls, cooking demonstrations, children's activities, heritage displays, seafaring crafts and a crab dressing competition at the town's Evington Lawns.

On both days, music will be provided by the Old Wild Rovers, a north Norfolk Shanty folk band and the Rock the Lobster Open Mic group.

Tony Shipp, the festival's chairman, said: "It will be a great weekend to be in Cromer.

"In addition to the festival, there is all that Cromer has to offer with its beaches, clifftop walks and a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants - many of which will be supporting the Festival with special seafood dishes on their menus."

Tickets to the opening show cost £15 and are now available from the Pavilion Theatre box office.
