Roadworks and a new hot chocolate shop are among the public notices to be aware of in Norfolk this week.

Here is what you need to know.

1. Work to begin on Long Stratton bypass

Norfolk County Council work on the Long Stratton bypass will start on Monday.

The new road will stretch two and a half miles and lead traffic past the south Norfolk town.

Some preparatory work has already been done but the beginning of the main construction means side roads which the new route will cross will have to be shut.

The work is due to continue until autumn 2025.

2. A148 Fakenham Road to close at Tattersett

The A148 will be closed at Tattersett on selected dates while surfacing work is under way, line painting is being carried out and cat’s eyes are being renewed.

The road will be closed to through traffic between 7pm on April 29 and 6am on April 30 and from 7pm on May 30 until 6am on May 31.

The work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and its contractors.

3. Luxury hot chocolate chain lodges plans for Norwich branch

Knoops Chocolate has lodged plans with Norwich City Council to open a new store at 21 Haymarket, the former home of Harris and James.

Knoops, which serves hot chocolates, launched in 2013 and has grown rapidly over the last few years, with its closest branch currently based in Cambridge.

It has not proposed any significant alternations to the Grade II-listed building but plans to redecorate and has requested City Hall's permission to put up its own signage.

4. Application to build on Thorpe Marriott car park

A planning application has been lodged to transform part of The Square car park in Thorpe Marriott into two flats and four garages.

The build would stretch around 50m across which would block a number of parking spaces.

The Environmental Quality Team at Broadland District Council has provisionally objected to the plans and requested a noise impact assessment.

5. Surface dressing work at Holkham

This will be carried out in phases on April 25, May 16, May 23 and June 23. 

All closures will run from 7pm to 6am with the exception of May 16, which will see the road closed from 9am to 4pm.
