A new Girlguiding unit is gearing up to open in Bungay following increased interest and demand.

Meetings will commence following the Easter holidays with Girlguiding Bungay introducing the new Guide and Ranger unit.

The current Guide unit, which is almost at full capacity, highlights a lack of provision for girls and young women.

This change makes it easier for more young people to participate in Girlguiding experiences.

The group joins together every Thursday evening during term time, from 7.30pm to 9pm at the Guide Hall on King’s Road, Bungay.

Age restrictions are in place with the Guide unit catering to 10-14 year-olds while the Ranger unit accommodates those aged 14-18.

An introductory event is scheduled for April 18, from 7.30pm to 9pm, to promote the range of opportunities which Girlguiding presents.

Girlguiding promotes its distinctiveness by providing a safe space where girls can discover their interests, help others, and try new activities.

Experienced volunteers will run the unit, planning engaging pursuits including outdoor adventures and skill-building exercises.

Participation in camps and trips also contribute to earning various badges.

One prospective member said: “I'm super excited to join the Ranger unit.

"There will be so many amazing opportunities and things for me to do.

"I can't wait to go camping this summer too - it will go towards the festival-goer badge.”

Both the Guide and Ranger units can accommodate more participation.
