Waste dumped along Norfolk road near A143 at Harleston

The rubbish has been dumped all along Upper Tumbril Lane, which crosses the A143 to Tumbrill Hill, near Harleston, which has angered dog walkers.

Posting on social media a man called it a "disgrace".

He said: "Went for a walk and the amount of fly-tipping is a joke.

"On Upper Tumbril Lane was a fridge freezer, car tyres, asbestos, garden waste, a mattress.

"Then crossing over the A143 to Tumbril Hill a sofa and lots of other rubbish."

Another person in the local area added: "Whoever does this needs to be caught."

For the 2022/23 year, local authorities in England dealt with 1.08 million fly-tipping incidents, a decrease of 1pc from the 1.09 million reported in 2021/22.

In 2022/23, 60pc of fly-tipping involved household waste.

The most common place for fly-tipping to occur was on highways (pavements and roads), such as the case of Upper Tumbril Lane, which accounted for two-fifths (40pc) of total incidents in 2022/23.

In 2022/23, the number of highway incidents was 433,000, which was a decrease of 7pc from 464,000 in 2021/22.
