A seaside fish and chip shop is set to reopen this summer after being closed for almost a year following a fire.

Stevenson’s Fish Bar, in Sheringham High Street, was “completely gutted” when a chip pan caught fire in July last year.

Owner Rob Wicks, who took over the fish and chip shop just weeks before the fire, said despite the interior of the shop being destroyed in the blaze the building itself survived.

Now, work is under way to refurbish the chippy - with plans to reopen on June 1.

"We're looking forward to reopening and seeing all our customers again," Mr Wicks said.

"We're happy that the work is now under way. Work began this week and we've started pulling the ceilings down and stripping it out.

"All of the new equipment is ordered, so June 1 is our preliminary opening date.

"It's been challenging for both myself and my staff, but we're just looking forward to getting back into it now.

"I think it's going to look really smart and we can't wait to see it all come together."
