Two new homes have been given the go-ahead in a village on the busy A10 despite parish council objections.
Andrew Wilkinson has been given outline planning permission to build on land near the junction of the main road and Chequers Lane at West Winch, near King's Lynn.
West Winch Parish Council objected, saying the development was "premature" and should not be approved before a new £84m relief road planned to serve 4,000 new homes planned for land near the village has been built.
Norfolk County Council has applied for planning permission and is now waiting to hear whether the government will contribute £67m towards the cost of the route.
"Chequers Lane is a single-track road with poor visibility," the parish council added.
"Once the relief road is built Chequers Lane will be blocked off stopping through traffic making it much safer."
A planning officer's report said there was no objection from the highways authority because the development would be accessed from Chequers Lane, which has an existing junction onto the A10.
