Vandals have targeted a village play park which recently received a £120,000 overhaul.

Staff from Rackheath Community Council discovered the vandalism at Jubilee Park in Wiloughby Road yesterday.

The benches, slide and climbing frames have been daubed with graffiti.

A council spokesman said the "appropriate" paint remover is on order and work will be done to restore the equipment to a "presentable" condition.

Anyone who knows anything about the graffiti is asked to get in touch with the council.

The news comes after Jubilee Park, next to Rackheath Primary School, received more than £120,000 for the new equipment.

The project was funded by Section 106 money - developers' contributions towards the costs of providing community and social infrastructure as the area undergoes a housing boom.

Thousands of homes are either being built or earmarked to be built in Rackheath in the years ahead, making its community provisions a necessity for improvement.
