Ryanair flights at Norwich Airport to bring boost to city

After a year of planning, the budget airline's three new routes to Alicante, Faro and Malta will run 12 flights to and from Norwich each week.

The flights that run on Mondays and Fridays have created 60 new jobs and will see more than 60,000 people use the airport. 

Richard Pace, Norwich Airport managing director, said: ”We hope these three new routes will be the start of more in the future.

"The pandemic brought on a difficult period in the airport's history but we've bounced back well."

These new flights were launched just a month before the TUI summer programme starts in May.

"We are in constant talks with airlines to increase what they are offering, in this case, the new Ryanair routes," Mr Pace told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"It was one of those conversations that happened over a long period of time. All the stars seem to have aligned this year."

Norwich Airport operates flights to 18 destinations in nine countries, with connections to 150 more locations via Amsterdam.

Vicky Samwell-Buckenham, manager at Norwich-based agency Oyster Travel previously said the flights will prove to be a benefit for the area. 

She said: "Our customers always love to fly from Norwich and will be happy to continue to support the airport going forward.

"It will be a happy return for those who remember being able to fly to Malta or Malaga with Flybe in the past."

The first of these flights landed in the city from Alicante at 10.10am on Monday with the rest of the services all landing later the same day.
