It was announced this week that the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children will spend the Easter holidays at Sandringham while Kate recovers from cancer treatment.

Norfolk has long been a place of solace for the Royals, with the family visiting frequently.

They have particularly cherished their Christmas trips to Sandringham - which have been ongoing since the late Queen’s grandfather, King George V, began the tradition.

Our archives contain many memories of the Royals out and about in Norfolk.

Here is a selection of images of the family between 1950 and 2000.
