A stretch of a major road in Norfolk is to have its speed limit reduced due to work at a nursery.

The section of the A146 Loddon-Norwich Roads at Thurton has been outlined for a speed reduction from the national speed limit to 50mph.

It comes after the development of Green Pastures Nursery, near the Mill Road junction, is said to have caused more traffic to join and leave the A146 from Mill Road.

Visibility at this junction is judged to be poor, so the speed limit change is a safety call to protect drivers.

A spokesman for Norfolk County Council said: “This change to the speed limit is intended to ensure the safety of road users following the increase of traffic joining Loddon Road from Mill Road since the development of Green Pastures Nursery.

"The speed limit and associated costs are jointly funded by the developer and the county council.

"The location of the junction, with limited visibility of oncoming northbound traffic on the A146, means safety has to be a priority and this speed limit will protect all road users.”
