A woman was taken to hospital after she was struck in the head by a gas canister thrown by balaclava-clad youths.

Brygida Kuczkowska was sitting in her garden at her home in Guilford Way in Thetford at around 10.45am on Wednesday when the incident happened.

One of these bottles hit her in the head which saw her taken to the hospital via ambulance.

She did not suffer serious injuries.

"It's good that the plastic part at the bottom hit me otherwise it could have ended in tragedy," she said.

Officers from Norfolk Constabulary will be taking a statement in the coming days.
