A busy bridge in west Norfolk is set to close for roadworks next week.

The Wissey Bridge, on the B1160 College Road in Wissington, will be shut from March 25 until March 29.

The closure will remain in place around the clock so that Norfolk County Council can safely resurface the road, complete lining work and perform maintenance tasks to the bridge.

The bridge is close to the British Sugar Beet factory and the work has been scheduled to take place after the sugar beet campaign is complete to avoid disruption.

A fully signed diversion route will take drivers via B1160 Lynn Road, A10 Main Road, A1122 Bexwell Road, A234 Dereham Road, Lynn Road and back on to the B1160 College Road.

The work will cost £6,000 and will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and its contractors Tarmac.
