A flood-prone road has finally reopened after it first became submerged underwater months ago.

The A1101 Welney Wash Road near Downham Market has been flooded since December with drivers forced to find alternative routes.

In December an Audi was found completely submerged underwater

Then in January people were seen using kayaks to cross the road

Drone footage captured a lorry that had become stuck in flood water along the road in February.

Earlier this month the road was reopened by Norfolk County Council but the authority was forced to close the road just days later after heavy rainfall led to more flooding.

A spokesman for the volunteer group Welney Flood Watch said the flood alert issued by the Environment Agency has been lifted.

They added: "The river level is 2.34m and is expected to continue to fall, it is 6cm under the trigger, there is water flowing over in a couple of places but only a few milimetres."
