Overseas reports are continuing to hold up the inquest into the death of a Norfolk holidaymaker who died after falling from a third-floor apartment in India.

Leonard Wooldridge, from Gorleston, died in hospital in Goa after falling from the third storey of the Heritage Exotica Suites in the Indian state.

Mr Wooldridge, who was known as Lenny, suffered a punctured lung, fractured ribs and severe head trauma in the fall on March 1.

He then spent more than three months in hospital while his family frantically fundraised to try and bring him home to Norfolk - only for him to die in India on June 16.

An inquest into his death was opened a month later.

However, Norfolk Coroner's Court heard this week that delays to reports being prepared in the Indian region meant the inquest is not yet ready to be heard.

Assistant coroner Johanna Thompson told the court that Indian authorities had warned this process could take some time.

It is not the first time that delays overseas have caused frustration following Mr Wooldridge's falls - with paperwork issues previously holding up the repatriation before his death.

After he died, members of his family paid tribute to the well-known mechanic, describing him as "one of a kind".

They described him as "trustworthy, cheerful and generous" - adding that he was well known around Great Yarmouth and Gorleston as a "mechanic extraordinaire".

The incident happened just 12 hours after he had arrived in the subcontinent, for what his family said was a "once in a lifetime trip".

Mr Wooldridge was born in April 1944 to Gladys and Leonard Wooldridge senior and married his wife Susan Hansen in 1969.

The couple had four children together, Melanie - who died when she was three months old, Steph in 1971, Phil in 1972 and Sonia in 1976.

The case was adjourned to a future review hearing.
