A high-street discount store, with hundreds of shops across the UK, has confirmed the closure of one of its Norfolk stores.

The Works, in Nelson Place, Dereham, is to shut in May, after being unable to agree terms to renew their lease.

The shop - which sells books, art and craft materials, gifts, toys, games and stationery - has more than 500 stores across the UK with nine in Norfolk.

A spokesman confirmed the high street store will close on May 10.

He said: "This has been a great location for The Works but our lease was due to expire soon and sadly we have been unable to agree on suitable lease terms to stay.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure and would like to thank customers for shopping at The Works over the years."

The business is offering all staff the chance to be relocated to their nearby stores in Swaffham and Fakenham.
