A popular Irish pub is set to expand its city centre venue.

Butcher Bhoy, in Exchange Street, is known for its live music, signature burgers and one of the city's best pints of Guinness.

The Irish pub originally opened in 2018 and is owned by Marcus Pearcey who also runs Blofield Farm Shop and The Oaklands Hotel.

Mr Pearcey said: "It's been a successful couple of years so we thought now's the time to expand."

Butcher Bhoy has submitted a licence application to Norwich City Council for the area above the pub at 13 Dove Street.

If the application is successful, the new area will become joined to the pub by moving the staircase around and would serve a range of cocktails with an "Irish twist".

The application also describes plans to host live music and that the opening hours would be the same as Butcher Bhoy.

Mr Pearcey added: "We want upstairs to become a chilled place to hang out with your friends."

The new area could open as early as June if the licence is approved.
