A new dog day-care centre is set to open in a Norfolk village despite concerns about "unbearable" noise and increased traffic.

Kempton Park Dog Day Care is planned to open in Church Lane, Hevingham, by transforming horse stables into kennels and an indoor exercise area.

The proposals by Paul Benton were met with complaints from local people who said the business would bring hundreds of additional cars to the area each week.

Neighbours also said the noise of barking dogs would be "unbearable" and have a "detrimental impact on the welfare" of those living in nearby homes.

However, a report to the council found that noise was not expected to be disruptive provided that no more than 27 dogs were on-site at a time.

Broadland Council granted permission for the business to launch at the farm, which will be open to customers from 8am until 6pm on weekdays only.

The decision comes as a row in Blofield Heath saw similar plans blocked, after opponents to a proposed dog day-care centre lodged more than 40 formal objections with the council.
