Following a local outcry, it has been confirmed that a beloved piece of play equipment will be returned to a market town park.

The blue rocking horse had been a key feature of North Walsham's Memorial Park since the 1960s until it was removed this week.

Wendy Murphy, North Walsham's Town Clerk, said the horse had been taken away due to general wear and tear but said she was hopeful it could be repaired.

Its removal sparked complaints from heartbroken neighbours, leading North Norfolk MP, Duncan Baker, to intervene.

He said: "Following several concerned residents making contact with me this morning about the removal of the much loved rocking horse from the memorial park, my office have already been in touch with the town council to see what their plans are.

"I am very pleased to say the rocking horse will be returned to its full former glory and we will be working with the town council to ensure this happens as swiftly as possible."
