There are a number of important public information notices for communities in Norfolk to be aware of this week. 

1. Repairs to Holme Hale Road Bridge near Necton

Works to repair accident damage to Holme Hale Road Bridge, which spans the River Wissey, will take place from March 4 to March 8.

Necton Road and Cook Road between Necton and Holme Hale will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the works, which will cost £6,000 and are expected to take up to five days to complete. 

Gatemen will allow school buses through in the morning and afternoon.

Diversions will be in place via School Road to the south, Swaffham Road, Whitegate Road and then on to the A47 at the North Pickenham Road junction.

Traffic will then be diverted off the A47 on to Tuns Road in Necton.

The work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department along with contractors Tarmac.

2. Pavement resurfacing to Limmer Avenue in Dickleburgh

Works to resurface the worn-out pavement on Limmer Avenue in Dickleburgh are planned to start on March 7, with access to properties available from either end of the closure.

The improvements will cost approximately £52,000 and take up to four weeks to complete.

People will be able to talk to the team on-site if they have any questions about access once work is under way.

3. Footway Maintenance at Neylond Crescent in Hellesdon

A road closure to minimise traffic passing through Neylond Crescent while the pavement is resurfaced is set to start on Monday.

Lasting up to 13 weeks and costing £190,000, the works will see the old, cracked and worn pavement replaced with new surfacing and edging.

New kerbing will also be installed at the driveway entrances.

The council will close sections up to 180 metres in length and signpost traffic to travel in the opposite direction along Neylond Crescent around the closure.

Access to properties will be maintained, however there will be times when vehicle access is restricted in front of driveways.

4. Road closures and traffic management in Long Stratton

A series of temporary road closures and traffic management will be in place in Long Stratton from March 29 affecting Church Lane, Edges Lane, Hall Lane, Parkers Lane and the A140.

The preliminary construction site clearance will enable the new Long Stratton bypass to be carried out which will remove through traffic on the A140 from the centre of Long Stratton.

One layby on the A140 Ipswich Road, north of Wild Rose Farm, will also be closed for the duration of this work. 

The affected roads will remain open at all other times and a temporary traffic regulation order will be in force when needed.

Norfolk County Council is unable to provide exact dates at this stage as to when each particular road may be affected but will provide advance warning signage at each location and signed diversion routes.

5. Pedestrian crossing traffic light replacement on Dereham Road

The replacement of the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing on Dereham Road near Alexandra Road is due to start on March 10.

The work will cost £36,000 and is expected to take five days to complete as part of a countywide traffic signal replacement programme involving the replacement of the traffic lights with new equipment and underground cabling.

A temporary crossing will be in place while the existing signals are off for replacement.
