Police investigate Norwich City hero Jeremy Goss's car crash

As reported exclusively by this newspaper, Canaries hero Jeremy Goss was left bedbound for a week after being involved in the "horrific" dual-carriageway smash.

Mr Goss, who scored arguably the most famous goal in City's history when he cracked home a brilliant Uefa Cup volley against Bayern Munich in 1993, was injured when driving his white Mini on the NDR near Norwich Airport on Wednesday, January 31.

A Norfolk Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to the Broadland Northway (NDR) at Horsham St Faith at 2.52pm, on January 31, following reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a blue Audi S4 and a white Mini Countryman.

"The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene, including ambulance and fire.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or manner of driving prior to the collision, as well as anyone who may have any relevant dashcam footage.

"Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue Audi S4 driving in convoy with a red Seat Ibiza prior to the incident."

The crash happened as Mr Goss, a married father-of-two, was travelling along the NDR towards Sprowston, between the Norwich Aviation Museum and the roundabout near the airport.

He recalled the blue car that hit his vehicle "going well over the speed limit" and bracing for impact after seeing it in his rearview mirror, being hit twice before coming to a rest about 100 metres up the road.

The 58-year-old former City and Wales midfielder spent 10 hours in hospital being checked over but is on the road to recovery and was able to attend Carrow Road on Friday to rewatch the famous Uefa Cup victory over Munich with Canaries fans.

He said: "It gave me a huge boost to see them and it was a very special night - it meant the world to me.

"I was nearly just another statistic - it's been agony but I'm relieved to be up and about again."
