While thousands drive past it every day, a market town just off the A11 is well worth venturing into for a coffee and cake pitstop.

Attleborough has a thriving independent food and drink scene, with many sweet treat businesses based there. 

Morgan Lewis opened pretty pink cake shop Bakeaholics in Queen's Square in 2021 and it now has more than 30,000 followers on Instagram.

She also runs hugely popular hot dessert nights and the business recently expanded into Chantry Place in Norwich.

There are fantastic cafés to visit in Attleborough, such as The Tea Re'treat in Connaught Plain with a mouth-watering counter - from cornflake tarts to cheesecake.

The newly launched Treat Shed, from Krispie Crazy owner Claire Ives, is based outside 18 Bracken Drive in the town and it offers self-service traybakes.

At Attleborough Hall Farm, Daisy's Milk Shed has a self-service raw milk and milkshake machine, alongside delicious bakes by local business Gooderlicious.

Exciting plans in the pipeline include Coffeesmiths in North Walsham opening a second branch in Attleborough's former post office, which will offer brownies and cookies from Eat with Ella.

Thanks to a whole host of new openings in recent years, Attleborough has become Norfolk's cake capital.
